After you have a template picked out, you need to replace the template’s default images with images that fit your book. You can find free images easily using stock photo sites like Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash and you can edit those images just as easily using a free online tool like Pixlr. (Note: Double-check the permissions and fine print when downloading images from free stock photo sites.)
So, I'm trying to activate, it simply won't work. I email support, 3-4 days of no help. It was written that I'll get a response in 24 hours or less, that was false. Without activating the product, you cannot export your eBook anywhere. I'm pretty displeased. I'll be updating this review in a week or so, maybe five days or less to inform you if the problem was handled or not. As of now, definitely not worth the money.

There is no other eReader that has an accompanying developer studio for members built right inside the app. Although iBook, Blurb and Inkling Habitat have developer software available online, their systems are fixed and proprietary, and they take a cut from the price of every book you sell through them. That may mean more profit for the company, but it’s not conducive to independents. EMRE Publishing’s President and CEO, Jim Musgrave, is an independent author and publisher, so he wants all independents to be able to use his eReader and accompanying ePub3 Creator Studio so they can collect 97% of the profits once their masterpiece is created and uploaded.

In the Brand House Book, Lindeback aims to make branding tangible by comparing it to building a house. He breaks it down into six manageable stages – dreaming, planning, starting work, designing, building and finally getting the details right – with a branding summary at the end of each stage, setting out all the important issues to think through in your brand building process.
You should also make your finished product as aesthetically pleasing as you can. Ebook design templates from Lucidpress get you off to a great start in that area. With different free ebook sample templates to choose from, you can pick one that best fits what your ebook is about. From there, include images, icons, graphics and more that enhance the material. People like to learn new things, and many people find it easier to learn when text is accompanied by visuals.
At their core, PDFs are essentially a way to “port” print content such as books, magazines, or brochures into the digital realm. This made sense in 1993: Web-based content was still relatively new, and technology had flaws and limitations that PDFs circumvented. But we’ve had 23 years since then to figure out better ways to create digital content. And that means it’s time to let go of the PDF security blanket and embrace the brave new interactive world.
To begin your eBook’s conversion process go to the “Build” option placed on the top of the program, click on the button and there you go. Your eBook will be converted to file extensions PRC or PRCX. Your eBook can also be published straightaway from the application or helps administer your online issue. Mobipocket also works as an outstanding editor for your eBook.
Add these buttons to each page of your ebook -- either in the header or the footer -- so readers can easily share the book with their social networks no matter how far through it they've read. Just be sure you're sharing links to the ebook's landing page -- not thank-you page -- if it's gated content. HubSpot's ebooks, for example, include social sharing buttons for LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter on each page. For help in creating these social media buttons for your ebooks, check out this handy guide .

The more complex your product is, the more information your customers will need to use it correctly. If your product or service can be used in multiple ways, or it's hard to set up alone, dedicate a brief ebook to showing people how it's done. In the first section of your ebook, for example, explain how to launch your product or service. In the second section, break down the individual features and purposes your product is best used for.

Amazon would like you to think it’s easy, but it isn’t.  The slightest formatting problem can make your book look entirely wrong, or worse – links might not work or images might not appear correctly.  Amazon has taken steps to fix this, too – having even minor formatting problems might cause your book not to appear in their store.  They’ve really come down hard on people who are lazy about formatting because customers have been complaining.
EMRE Publishing has linked this studio with two courses (one free and one paid) for authors who are new to multimedia development in eBooks. Jim Musgrave wants to train authors in the creative use of his studio, so he has created the Basic Creative Writing Course, which authors can take online for free. The curriculum is aimed at developing the skills necessary to create multimedia content, and when the author is ready he/she may enroll in the Advanced Multimedia Development Course for a membership fee. This course has an accompanying eText, Running with the Big Dogs: A Creator’s Guide to Using Electronic Media. Jim created the course with the goal to train authors how to develop multi-sensory eBooks. Thousands of royalty-free media are included in this curriculum, so authors may invest in the development inside the studio with a lot less worry about cost.

No matter what subject your ebook takes on, research is a significant part of ebook creation. Unlike short-form content like articles and videos, the content of an ebook is predicated on trust and evidence. A user who obtains (or requests access to) your ebook wants the full story, not just the bullet points. That includes all the content and testing you went through to produce the ebook.

If your typography isn’t on point, this next ebook is for you. Type Classification is a helpful beginner’s guide to typography. It should give you the foundations you need to not only start classifying various forms of type but also understanding when and how to use them to alarmingly great effect. It covers a history of each of the type forms and the basic facts you need know about them.
After your content is launched and promoted across your marketing channels, you’ll need to have marketing analytics in place that measure the success of your ebooks. For instance, having landing page analytics that give you insight into how many people downloaded your ebook, or show how many of those downloaders converted into opportunities and customers for your business.
Think about how you got here -- you clicked on a call-to-action (CTA) in an email, on a social media post, or somewhere else. A CTA is a link or visual object that entices the visitor to click and arrive on a landing page that will get them further engaged with your company. Since your ebook readers have probably converted into leads in order to get their hands on your ebook to begin with (more on this in Step 2 below), use the CTAs within your ebook to reconvert your readers and propel them further down your marketing funnel.

7.  The value of marketing the final products:  the eBooks.  Once again, I found this value so important that I wrote a separate Slideshare on the topic.   The “big 5” makes this aspect of the business the cornerstone of their enterprise, and yet they are not spending the money to innovate digitally the way we have at EMRE Publishing.  They simply give the author a website and a book page and tell them, “Go ahead, make your own promotions.”  Little time, money or educational effort is spent to train their authors on how to use the digital marketing tools properly.  We do this, and it does pay off in more sales, more intimacy between the author and reader, and a happier reader experience.
Today's publishing focus trends to self-publishing authors and small businesses, including preparing books for publication via sites such as CreateSpace, Lightning Source, Lulu and others in both print and ebook formats. More and more writers are opting to publish their books themselves and with my extensive print publishing background, I'm uniquely qualified to help prepare your book from manuscript to finished book in paperback, hard cover or ebooks. I'm familiar with specific requirements of various common sites, as well as a great background in the print basics, unlike many "newly minted" graphic artists whose training has focused on websites and web publishing. I've very proud to say that I've recently been assisting with preparing Best Seller listed books for publication via print-on-demand sites. It's exciting to see this relatively new publishing method being used by the "big boys" as well as the more newly minted authors. And to add another feather to my cap, I just received word from one Client that his book about early colonial Cambodia was approved by the King. Client says I'm "the Royal Typesetter"... :) I'm happy to give you a time estimate for completing your project, but to me, every book is unique, and deserves a unique layout, so giving an exact time line and fixed-rate price is necessarily nearly impossible. Let's talk about the possibilities. Every book deserves a great cover, and I'm also available to help you with your cover design, from start to finish, concept to print. While I generally leave uploading of files to my clients, if you need help, I'm usually available, and I do guarantee my files to sucessfuly upload to the various sites, or I'll work on it until it does. This guarantee has even led me to step in and work with the help desks of more than one print site when their automated system thought it detected a problem, and my extensive print process knowledge assured me there wasn't one, so I contacted an actual person, and in all instances, once a live professional looked over the file, all was good to go. "Being there" for my clients is especially important to me, and I'm proud of my on-going client list here on oDesk. My clients seem to refuse to close out their accounts even when we don't have an active project. :-) During my nearly 40-years of graphic design within the printing and publishing field, I have witnessed and adapted to the many changes in technology as it relates to the industry. Yes, I'm older, but not extinct yet! So although I'm specializing in book publishing, if you have other print needs, such as stationery, magazine layout, flyers and on and on, I have done just about everything there is to do in the printing industry. Most of the changes in the print industry have been in the way that typography, photography and art meet and make their way to the printed page. We used to do this with light tables, punch-tape and exacto knives, now we use computers for the whole process. Offset presse...
Another manifesto from the ChangeThis.com website, this offering from author Stephen Hay—one of the speakers at our Generate conference—provides a methodology for converting client input (which may often be extremely vague!) into a meaningful design approach. As with Hugh MacLeod’s book, this free PDF offers a personal insight into the process, demonstrating its value.
In summary, the real answer to this gripe session by the MIT editor is to put away conventional journalism and begin to think like a mobile developer!  That’s what we did, and we think we’ve solved all those so-called “problems” in the best way possible.  We not only by-pass the middlemen (those app-hating apes, Apple and Amazon), but we build brands for publishers from the ground up:  with open source flexibility!
While ebooks can be catered to achieve certain goals, the way most marketers use ebooks is to generate new leads at the top of the funnel. To achieve this goal, your ebook content should be majorly educational -- not product focused -- in nature. But does that mean you can't or shouldn't sneak in a few mentions of your product or service into them when appropriate? Absolutely not! In fact, when people are just starting to learn about your business in the awareness stage of the sales cycle, they probably know very little about the products and services you offer.
15. Test how your ebook looks on different ereaders and in the retailer previews, then make needed adjustments. Sometimes, you'll get unexpected results when viewing the ebook in one ereader, while that same content looks fine in another ereader. Checking your ebook on the Amazon previewer located on your book's product page is especially important because it's common to have an ebook that looks fine on different ereaders, but that looks bad on Amazon. That preview is often the first exposure to your book that readers will have so you want to make sure it looks good. Some authors have had to email Amazon to fix previewer problems (when it is not the fault of the ebook creation).
The movement against what the Smashwords CEO called “a monopoly preventing free expression” has begun against Amazon.  We believe our product will help publishers and enterprising authors to gain a foothold in this battle to take-back the author/reader relationship.  Our platform is the only mobile platform that permits publishers to run a complete publishing business through their cell phone, iPad and tablet.  No more middlemen to take 30% off the top.  No more piling your books into “all you can devour” buffets like Kindle Unlimited.  Our clients work hard to establish the best relationships they can with their readers and students.  They expect to receive the majority of the profits as well.
Promote your ebook through your blog. For instance, consider publishing an excerpt of your ebook as a blog post. Or write a separate blog article on the same topic as your ebook, and link to it at the end of your post using a call-to-action to encourage readers to keep learning. (Note: This very blog post is the perfect example of how to promote an offer you created with a blog post.)
“This year, we choose to show how design enables us to create a common future beyond all the differences, whether it’s for products, services, or public policy choices.” — Gaël Perdriau, Mayor of Saint-ÉtienneThe Saint-Étienne Design Biennale opens today in central France. Over the next month, the city will host a variety of exhibitions, events, and conferences that address salient topics in the design, art, and research community. As part of this year’s Biennale, the Material Design team collaborated with tech guru John Maeda to present the interactive exhibition Design in Tech. Opening this week at Cité du Design—and running until April 22—attendees can get hands-on with Material Design’s approach to color, typography, icons, and elevation, and explore key insights from Maeda’s 2019 Design in Tech Report. We hope to see you there! And for those that can’t make it, we’ve got an interview with Maeda and Material Design’s Rachel Been on the symbiotic (and evolving) relationship between design and development.Read “A New Religion for Designers”
If you take a look at the ebooks HubSpot has launched in the past 6 months, for example, you'll notice that they all have very consistent branding and design elements throughout. When you sit down with your marketing team and designer to decide on your brand style guide, establish rules for such design elements as fonts/sizes, color schemes, charts/graphs, borders for screenshots and images, headers, etc. Creating easy-to-follow guides and templates for your various marketing assets like ebooks, presentations, etc. will make it easy for you and your team to implement a consistent branding style throughout your marketing collateral. HubSpot, for example, has an ebook template created in InDesign to ensure our ebooks have a consistent look no matter who created them.
We researched to find downloadable programs and online services for eBook publication, looking for options that have a variety of publishing templates. We counted the number of file types each software processes and how many template types each service has, taking note of those that include professional tools or support educators. We also looked for services that connect with the most popular eBook stores, including Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
