This allows you to insert any URL you want, and Sqribble will automatically pull the content from that page and insert into your book. It strips the html code and only inserts the text from the page. This is a great method because it saves a ton of time, and allows you to use expert content (with credits) so you can target topics and niches you’re not an expert in!
The topic of the first anthology is war.  The title of the anthology is WAR STORIES ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. The method of the artistry will be to create stories that have an element of speculation in each one.  Therefore, they will categorized as fiction, although we will be soliciting stories by authors who have experienced war, whether while in the military or as a civilian living in a war-torn country.  These stories can be in the genres of Science Fiction, Adventure, Mystery, Alternate History, and Fantasy.
11. A professional ebook design uses standard formatting, not block formatting. This means that there is not extra spacing between paragraphs, and all paragraphs—except for the first paragraph in a chapter and the first paragraph after a scene break—are indented. We recommend a .25 inch indent, rather than the full .5 inch indent that Word gives. You can read more about standard versus block formatting in our blog post here.

I submit that unless and until publishers learn to create stories that can be total experiences for the reader, and still come in at less than 150 pages, they will not win at the BookShot game.  Also, unless and until publishers learn that good DRM helps the publisher and the author make money, then we will eventually not have to worry about the sales of these books being poor because readers will be getting them for free.
While your ebook is a digital publication, you'll likely be offering it as a downloadable file such as a PDF, and despite what you might think, many of the people who download will actually prefer to print it out and read it on paper rather than on a screen. For this reason, it's important to make sure your ebooks are printer-friendly. For example, avoid designs that leverage double-page, horizontal layouts that don't translate well to print. The best way to know if your design is printer-friendly? Print it yourself!

The market for ebooks is huge; people have literally become millionaires by selling books in the Kindle format alone.  It’s a fun way to make money, too – you can decide what you’re going to write about, write it, publish it yourself on the Amazon site (or Barnes & Noble, or any one of a number of other sites) and you can decide for yourself how much you want to charge for the finished product.  Amazon puts a bit of pressure on you to price your books in the $2.99-$9.99 range, but aside from that, you can ask what you want.
Lucidpress provides a number of features that allow you to include interactive elements with your ebook. Embed a video with your ebook to provide a visual look at what you’re writing about. Include links within the text so people can follow them to learn more about the subject. This helps show readers that you have done your homework and want the audience to know more about it. Include scrolling text areas within your ebook to provide even more information.
The eBook is available to download and read right away keeping it fresh in their minds rather than waiting for the physical edition to be released. It even saves the substantial time of the reader to go to the bookstore, buy it and then read. Unlike paperbacks, eBooks allow you to search the exact text or content, facilitates you with the ease to read your favorite books on the go and even make them exciting to read with add-ons like hyperlinks, audio, and visuals.

The trade-off among these methods involve quality, time, and price. As the old saying goes, you can generally pick two. In order to get all three, you’re going to need to become an ebook maven yourself, which will take a fair amount of time, but which will allow you to control all of the variables yourself. Let’s look at the options, and you can see whether that’s the road you want to take.

Not really a waste of time, the reviews are good and did make me aware of these ePub creators. I used to have one that worked on my PC, most of these new ones all work from a website.  I’m still looking for the one I used to have on my PC, it could accept word or pages docs and spat out several different ePub variations. But I can’t find it again, forgot what it was called even. Thanks for adding the links.

I have 15 years of experience doing proofreading, copyediting, and transcribing. I have worked for a proofreading and copyediting company for ten years. And I currently transcribe audio and proofread and edit books on a regular basis for two publishing companies. I have proofread, edited, and helped publish over 150 books. I have done ebook formatting for Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple iBookstore, Kobo, and other digital platforms along with print book formatting for Createspace, Lightning Source, and LuLu. Additionally, I am an expert web designer and server manager, having designed and/or developed over 100 websites. I also manage shared hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated hosting, and cloud hosting environments.
First of all, none of the files created by these apps will display quite the way that you expect them to in various ereaders, especially if you’ve got an ebook that’s got any complicated formatting such as drop-caps, tables, inset images, fancy typography, etc. The apps will try to reproduce on the screen what you were trying to create for the printed page, but often the style rules that the apps try to create make an incredible mess in one or more ereader. Everything may display as plain text on a Nook, while small images may fill the page on an old Kindle, while no images display at all on the Kindle app on your computer.
I developed my business because publishers and authors were getting ripped-off to the tune of three billion dollars per year with book piracy.  My eReader has an excellent Digital Rights Management system.   If publishers use my system, they can prevent eBook piracy.  However, if the book is poorly written, I can’t help them.  If one reads the negative comments on Amazon, one can see that the major disappointment of these readers is that fact that his BookShot title Cross Kill is not a complete story.  In other words, in his eagerness to lead the reader into the next serial, Patterson forgot that when a reader plunks down money (forget the piracy for a moment), he or she wants a complete drama with no “cliff-hangers.”

So, I'm trying to activate, it simply won't work. I email support, 3-4 days of no help. It was written that I'll get a response in 24 hours or less, that was false. Without activating the product, you cannot export your eBook anywhere. I'm pretty displeased. I'll be updating this review in a week or so, maybe five days or less to inform you if the problem was handled or not. As of now, definitely not worth the money.

How many ebooks does your marketing team have in its content arsenal? With the rise of tablet and e-reader popularity, ebooks are only growing in popularity. According to a newly released report by Pew Internet , in mid-December 2011, 17% of American adults had reported they read an ebook in the previous year; by February, 2012, the share increased to 21%. While we've always considered ebooks to be one of the best lead-gen content assets at a marketer's disposal, the fact that on-the-go content is only carving out more of a place in today's increasingly mobile world makes them an even smarter choice as a marketing offer .

When Abby Hoffman said, “Steal this book,” back in the 1970s, there were no eBooks.  He meant that the reader should literally steal his paperback.  Flash-forward to 2016, and readers can steal eBooks with no trouble as long as publishers allow the DRM of an Amazon or an iBooks.  Anybody right now can do a search for “Cross Kill and torrents” and get a download of the complete BookShot.  This is why publishers are losing three billion dollars per year (and climbing).
As the title suggests, this free ebook from Route One Print brings together key pieces of advice from experienced graphic designers – including Jacob Cass (aka Just Creative) and Brent Galloway – to make your life easier. "From client management to typography, brand identity to finding alternative textures in Photoshop, this ebook offers practical tips for designers and showcases new ways to think about design," says the blurb.
Conducting an experiment or business survey? This is a great way to develop proprietary knowledge and become a thought leader in your industry. But how will you share your findings with the people who care about it? Create an ebook that describes the experiment, what you intended to find out, what the results of the experiment were, and what these findings mean for your readers and the market at large.
Note: there was some worry when iBooks Author first came out that the app’s terms of service didn’t allow users to sell their books anywhere but the iBooks store. That’s not the case. If you use Apple’s .ibook format, you can only sell through the iBooks store. All other formats have no restrictions. Read more on Apple’s FAQ here. We make all our guides in iBooks author and export as a PDF.

I'm the indie writer's best friend, for I love the written word and love to edit! I also transcribe manuscripts from both handwritten notes and dictated voice files. With my skills and strengths, I can make your project shine or create one that shines for you that is guaranteed to need little editing! I'm a thorough, all-around editor, not just a glorified proofreader. Look at my test scores: 1st Place and Top 10% only...none of that Above Average or Top 20% or 30% for me! I present these additional qualifications: • Professional writer for over 20 years, nonfiction (newspaper columnist) and fiction (35+ novels of romance and women's fiction published under my pen name(s), plus ghostwritten titles). • Proofreader (worked for pharmaceutical giant Abbott Labs in this capacity), eliminating errors in grammar, punctuation, missing or incorrect words, inconsistencies in names, numbers, and formatting. Although commonly believed to be the same thing as editing, these are two different things; proofreading is properly done *after* editing to ensure an error-free document. • Experienced editor, incorporating the overall document: typos, overused/misused/missing words, incorrect facts, inconsistencies, redundancies, contradictions, implausibilities, pacing, confusing narrative, pronoun misuse, adverb overuse, point-of-view (in fiction) errors, tense, transitions, clarity, syntax, and of course, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. *I am an all-around editor, not merely a glorified proofreader.* • With so many published romance novels to my name, I possess a thorough understanding of the genre and know what works and what doesn't. I am a "book doctor" who can clean up plots that contain outlandish elements (e.g., the billionaire who personally meets with the woman hired to clean his offices to explain her job duties to her, etc.) and revise them into a plot that is both engrossing and *believable.* • Ability to turn in a manuscript that needs very little editing due to my writing skills (and if the price is right I will submit a manuscript that's ready to be published). • Ability to make editing suggestions without changing the writer’s voice. • Courtesy sheet of suggestions to improve clients' writing, along with specific examples. • Transcription and typing (90 WPM), specifically of medical reports, dictated or handwritten text for fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, and one-on-one conversations (I do not transcribe reports with multiple speakers). • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology; qualified to do medical editing and proofreading. • Accurate and thorough service. • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously (numerous open jobs often represent repeat clients who provide work sporadically and for whom I am not actively working). • Quality work at reasonable rates, with an increased fee for rush jobs (but I don't write for 1 cent per word and certainly not less than that, nor do I edit for 0.001 cent per word). My...

A traditional eBook usually looks like a textbook chapter: It’s got an introduction, a list of sections, and a lot of text that follows a linear progression of concepts designed to be read in order. There’s usually some kind of summary conclusion at the end. This structure has worked with print for years. But it’s not a structure that translates well to the web.

You can look at the books supported and created by epub, or a standard E-book format through iBooks to register them at iBookstore. Support for iBooks` fixed-layout format. Please note that fixed-layout format is not ideal for long texts such as novels. You can put the photo and video, music in iPhone/iPad in your book and write on it. You can record your voice into the book. You can also move, enlarge, reduce and rotate a photo in a book by touching it. The book can be shared via iTunes and E-mail. You can also create PDF document and print it.

There are lots of products out there to help people get their Kindle books online.  Some are junk, and some are overly complex.  In my experience, Ultimate eBook Creator is the one tool that every writer needs if they want to get their Kindle book online with a minimum amount of hassle and trouble.  The software is easy to install, it has all the features you need, it runs well, and it comes with great support.  If you can’t find what you need by looking over the video tutorials, you can just contact Nitin directly.  He’s pretty good at responding to problems in a timely manner.

Authors who choose to develop their titles with the EMRE ePub3 Creator Studio will always have a professionaldeveloper close by to assist them with technical problems. Jim Musgrave prides himself on the fact that he has trained his developers to know what authors want and need to be creative, and the result is in the professional support authors receive when they enroll in the membership. Since the first month’s membership is free, authors can see if they like the tools before they begin to design work.

Your ebook should be available for download through a landing page on your site. A landing page is a web page that promotes/describes your offer and provides a form that visitors need to fill out with their contact information in order to access your ebook. This is how you are able to convert your visitors into business leads that your sales team can ultimately follow up with.

If you make sales, great.  You give up a small commission, but you earn the bulk of the price in profit and you don’t even get charged for having your books stored on Amazon’s site.  Ebook publishing is a great way to make money if you like to write, but there’s a huge problem – formatting your content properly to meet Kindle guidelines is really hard.
Amazon recently unloaded a new version of their Kindle to the perhaps “less than eager” reading public.  With publishers losing over 3 billion dollars a year to eBook piracy, mostly due to the insecure Digital Rights Management of Amazon’s and other eBook retailer’s platforms, it makes you wonder how long publishers will keep selling their digital and print books through the giant online retailers.  But, most importantly, the reading public is changing their reading habits.  Each day, more and more readers are using whichever mobile device they have with them, so it makes having “extra” devices like the Kindle superfluous.

Break up your "big chunks of copy" and "large blocks of text" with visual elements to emphasize or explain certain points more visually. We're talking anything from headers, bolded text, and bullet points to screenshots, images, charts, and graphs. Furthermore, leverage content visualizations when appropriate to help you explain concepts that are difficult to explain through text and lend themselves to more visual explanations, as we did in this blog post , which is actually an ebook excerpt! Just be sure to keep your visuals in line with your brand style guide, translating images, graphs, and charts to conform to your guidelines in terms of style and color scheme.

It also looks up to date – the layout and interface are much more accessible than those of some competitors. Lucidpress is an online program, so you don’t download it, and you store your projects in the cloud. Some may see it as a downside to need internet access to work on projects, but it’s fairly common practice nowadays. You can sign up for a free trial on Lucidpress’ site, and you can even access the software for free if you’re a student or teacher. However, the program’s project variety is what really makes it a great option. It includes publishing formats for business reporting as well as those to help educators make learning material more engaging. There’s also a space to create personal projects like family photo albums and picture books. The service makes it easy to add images and sound to your work.
